Silicone rubber insulation cover for transformer & switchgear bushings — D10-09
Purpose-molded HTV silicone-rubber cover for transformer and switchgear bushing terminals — insulates the top connection point where the line conductor attaches to the bushing stud, preventing flashover, wildlife contact and weather-induced tracking at this elevated, exposed live point.

The D10-09 is a silicone-rubber insulation cover specifically molded for transformer and switchgear bushing terminals. A bushing terminal sits at the very top of the equipment — the highest, most exposed live point — where the incoming line conductor bolts to the bushing stud. This is a prime location for bird perching, phase-to-ground flashover during rain or fog, and pollution tracking across the bushing surface.
The D10-09 wraps the bushing top terminal — covering the stud, nut, and conductor lug — while leaving the bushing shed profile below unobstructed. The cover is shaped to follow the bushing’s conical top profile, creating a seamless insulating cap that extends the bushing’s own insulation to cover the bare metal connection at the very top. It does not interfere with the bushing’s creepage distance or shed function.
Commonly specified for pole-mounted distribution transformers, MV switchgear bushing panels, and substation transformer banks where bird-related bushing flashovers are a recurring problem. Molded from HTV silicone rubber — hydrophobic, UV-stable, anti-tracking, flame-retardant. Slip-on / cap installation over the bushing top; live-line installable. Custom-molded to your specific bushing make, model and stud configuration.

Specifically molded for the highest, most exposed live point — the bushing top stud and conductor lug.
The cover’s domed top profile eliminates flat perching surfaces on the bushing terminal — a key avian outage mitigation measure.
Wraps the top terminal without blocking the bushing sheds — full bushing creepage distance is maintained.
Overhangs the bushing top like a roof, directing rain away from the terminal and the upper bushing surface.
Hydrophobic, UV-stable, anti-tracking — permanently flexible, no cracking or hardening after years of sun exposure.
Custom-molded to your bushing manufacturer, model, stud diameter and conductor exit direction.
The most common application — insulating MV and LV bushing tops on pole-top transformers where birds perch.
Bushing terminal protection on transformers in distribution and zone substations.
Insulating bushing connections where cables terminate on switchgear bushing panels.
Retrofit protection for existing transformer installations with a history of bird-related bushing flashovers.
