The PRWG2-35 series is the outdoor expulsion fuse cutout purpose-designed for 35kV medium-voltage distribution systems — a voltage class common in Chinese regional grids, mining operations, and long-distance rural feeders. The “P” prefix designates plateau (high-altitude) compatibility, with insulation coordinated for operation up to 3,000 meters above sea level.
At 35kV, insulation requirements jump substantially from the 10kV class: BIL rises from 110kV to 185kV, power-frequency withstand from 42kV to 95kV, and creepage distance from ~260mm to 870-935mm minimum (1,122mm at 2,000m altitude per GB/T 11022 altitude correction). The insulator body is correspondingly larger — a glazed porcelain column ~800mm tall, or a composite silicone-rubber shed profile of similar length but half the weight.
Weight and dimensions make proper mounting critical: the porcelain version weighs ~15-18 kg per phase, requiring a robust crossarm and careful lifting during installation. The composite (HPRWG2-35) variant uses a fiberglass core rod with HTV silicone sheds, reducing weight to approximately 10-14 kg while maintaining the same electrical ratings — strongly recommended for high-altitude sites where transport and handling are challenging.
