Overview
The D10-09 is a silicone-rubber insulation cover specifically molded for transformer and switchgear bushing terminals. A bushing terminal sits at the very top of the equipment — the highest, most exposed live point — where the incoming line conductor bolts to the bushing stud. This is a prime location for bird perching, phase-to-ground flashover during rain or fog, and pollution tracking across the bushing surface.
The D10-09 wraps the bushing top terminal — covering the stud, nut, and conductor lug — while leaving the bushing shed profile below unobstructed. The cover is shaped to follow the bushing’s conical top profile, creating a seamless insulating cap that extends the bushing’s own insulation to cover the bare metal connection at the very top. It does not interfere with the bushing’s creepage distance or shed function.

How is D10-09 different from a terminal cover (G10 series)?
D10-09 is shaped for a bushing top — it follows the conical bushing profile and caps the top terminal with a domed, rain-shedding shape. G10 series covers are for flat-palm cable lugs on horizontal terminals. The geometry is different. If your connection is on top of a vertical bushing, you need D10-09; if it’s a cable lug on a horizontal stud, you need a G10 cover.
Does the cover affect the bushing’s insulation performance?
No — the cover sits on top of the bushing terminal, above the shed profile. It doesn’t reduce the bushing’s creepage distance or interfere with the sheds. It adds insulation coverage to the only part the bushing doesn’t protect: the bare metal connection at the top.
Why is D10-09 sold as 1 PC/SET instead of 3?
Bushing covers are typically ordered per bushing because transformer bushing configurations vary — a transformer may have 3 MV bushings + 4 LV bushings, and you may only want covers on the MV side, or on all. Order exactly the quantity you need.
Can D10-09 be installed on an energized transformer?
Yes — the slip-on cap can be placed on the bushing top using hot-stick tools with the transformer energized, following standard live-line safety procedures for the voltage class.
